Only three of these badges are originals. The rest are reproductions going through various stages of polishing.
I have had my PPCLI Marguerite reproduced and it has retained all the details of the original. I have no intent to pass it off as anything but a reproduction. It is clear on inspection of the reverse side that it is not an artifact. The originals were pressed impressions whereas mine is a casting. For those in the re-enactor world finding an original is hard and expensive. I'm now able to offer these reproductions for sale, taxes and delivery included, for $40.00 Canadian. The original is on the right and the reproduction is on the left.
Stages of polish with original on the right above.
Similarly I have the 21st Battalion badge reproduced for $30.00. Both badges are brass and have a first round of polishing, but they await your elbow grease to brighten them up.
The Canadian General service cap badge and collar dogs are available through What Price Glory.
The original is seen here on the right and the reproduction on the left.
Here is a collar dog reproduction.
The Royal Newfoundland Regiment cap badge is the latest addition.
Those interested in buying the Marguerite or the 21st Battalion badge can contact me through my gmail account: timothyjsoper@gmail.com and make payments by PayPal. It would be well if we correspond first in case I sell out too soon.
The WPG site should have the GS badges available soon. I would recommend checking other badges they have on offer too. I hope to post pictures of them on this blog soon. Use the WPG link below.
Update: the What Price Glory badges are now available. I'm also informed that Canadian General service buttons can be bought. Here are their official photos. Incidentally, I decided to polish my WPG badges and they came out beautifully, but if you go at them too hard with a wire brush or a buffing wheel you can get into a silver metal layer. It turns out they are not solid brass.
Update: I now have more badges ready for sale. Check the new badges blog posted in March.
